Do you know why the Bat is the Symbom of Spetsnaz GRU?

The GRU Insignia used by the Military intelligence service patch, in dark blye with a Black Bat symbol over a white globe and lettering reading Voyennaya Razvedka - Military Intelligence.

It's not hard to understand the choive. In 1917 it appeared on the military insignia long before GRU Spetsnaz - formed at WWII. 

The choise is because Bats are stealthy, nocturnal and and use a great navigation system, kinda radar, to hunt their prey precisely. Like the military radar application to detection of enemies, aircrafts, ships, units, etc. Bats are extremely admired by a night groups, patrols, observations squadrons, hunters and treacherous silent "death from above" squads.
