Sri Lanka Government and Religious dome request for the end of violence - Late News

After the clash of religious and ethnic groups, the Cardinal Ranjith requests the end of the attacks against the Muslim groups in country.

The wave of violence started after the Easter attacks at diverse churches and hotels by a Muslim extremist group. The measures taken was to take down the internet connections and siege the extremist groups. More than 80 people arrested by the police.

After 30 years of extreme violence, the Government fears a new upheaval of Tamil supporters and remnants of the extremist group that raised the country in fear and terrorism during decades.

To the government, the retaliation is an opus of racist hardline groups of Buddhist fundamentalism, that are more sited in the northwast of the country.

Albeit the Easter attack was against the Catholics, the extremist group linked to Islamic State was known to vandalize Buddha statues and temples.
